Bio
Dawn Allen is a former professional U.S. Navy musician, playing flute, piccolo, alto, and tenor saxophones. While in the Navy, she attended the Armed Forces School of Music in Little Creek, Norfolk, VA. After completing her 4 year contract in 1990, Dawn received an Honorable Discharge and moved to Arizona. Other schools she has attended to study music are the University of Houston, where she studied with Byron Hester; Mesa Community College, studying with Melanie Winans, and Grand Canyon University, studying with Barbara Chao. Dawn earned her Associate of Arts at MCC in 2000. In 2007, she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in applied music -- instrumental (flute performance) with a minor in photography at Grand Canyon University, graduating Cum Laude. Currently, Dawn enjoys playing with her church's worship band and working with her favorite guitarist, Robert Popescu, as a duo. She also enjoys teaching flute, sax, and beginning piano lessons to people of all ages.
